The Brief
One calm news page a day.
- Android
The Brief turns the day's news into one calm page from the sources you trust — no feeds to scroll, no websites to visit, no pictures or video to download. It filters out what you don't want to know, reads the page aloud or prints it, and deletes each day after three days.
What it does
- Text only — no pictures, no video, no autoplay, nothing preloading in the background. On a test tablet a whole day's page, fetched from scratch from two sources, came to about 235 KB, and a later check that finds nothing new costs about 12 KB — so a month of daily reading is a few megabytes, less than one minute of video.
- One page, and it ends: the day's stories fit on a single page you read in a few minutes. No endless feed, no "recommended for you", no next video, nothing that reloads when you reach the bottom — you stop scrolling to find the one story you actually wanted.
- Nothing competes for your attention: no ads, no badges, no streaks, no notifications except the one quiet notice that your page is ready and the watch-term alerts you switch on yourself.
- One newspaper-style page a day, built only from the sources you add: news websites, YouTube channels, public Telegram channels, and Instagram, TikTok, X, Facebook or Snapchat accounts you follow with your own sign-in
- Block the topics you don't want to know about, and mute any word; our own AI news picker, trained by us for this app, sorts and filters every story on the phone, with no account and no server
- Watch terms: names or phrases you always want included when they appear, with optional public news search, on the days and times you choose
- Listen to the page aloud with the best Arabic and English voice your phone has — chosen by testing each one, not by guessing — with Arabic vowel marks added on the device by our own diacritization model, trained on news headlines, so words are pronounced the way a news reader says them — including common foreign names and abbreviations. Headlines and summaries are read; web addresses are not.
- Print the page on A4 or save it as a PDF, with the publisher, date and link under every story
- Calendar and to-dos for dates up to the year 3000, plus your region's fixed public holidays with a quiet reminder the evening before
- Read once and it's gone: each day stays 3 days in the archive, then deletes itself; five themes (Light, Dark, Colour, Sepia, Night) in Arabic and English
- No ads, no tracking, no account. Works on any Android 7.0+ phone, Google services not needed; the internet is used to fetch your sources and once to activate your licence
