Disk Wiper
Securely erase drives (IEEE 2883).
- Windows
- Linux
- Raspberry Pi
Permanently erase drives with hardware sanitize, standards-based purge (IEEE 2883) and full-surface read-back verification — and an honest, medium-aware statement of what can and cannot be recovered afterwards.
What it does
- Erase a whole disk with 11 methods: Quick, Zero, Random, NIST 800-88, HMG IS5, DoD 3-pass, DoD 7-pass, Gutmann 35-pass, plus ATA Secure Erase, NVMe Sanitize and IEEE 2883-2022 Purge
- Full-surface read-back verification: Zero, NIST 800-88 and DoD 7-pass end on a known pattern and then read back EVERY sector and compare it byte for byte — the audit record reports verified: true only when the whole surface was confirmed, never from a sample
- Says the truth for your medium: after a verified overwrite on a spinning hard disk it states plainly that the data cannot be recovered — not by recovery software, not by a data-recovery company, not by a forensics laboratory
- On an SSD, NVMe or USB flash drive it says the opposite where that is the truth: an overwrite cannot reach the wear-levelled spare blocks, so only the drive's own ATA Secure Erase / NVMe Sanitize (Linux) is a lab-proof erase — and it tells you which one to run
- Never claims a hardware erase it did not perform: if a drive refuses the IEEE 2883 firmware Purge, the app names the fallback, logs the result as SUCCESS_DEGRADED and explains what to do instead
- Detects the drive type (HDD/SSD/NVMe/USB), recommends a method, and protects the running system/boot disk — shown in red and impossible to select
- Every wipe writes a JSON sanitization audit record and a bilingual (Arabic + English) certificate of erasure; fully offline
